Obituary for Helen Lester (Prater)

Helen Juanita Prater Lester, age 87 of Grundy, Virginia passed away on
Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Buchanan General Hospital in
Grundy, Virginia.

Born June 4, 1930 in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of
the late William and Pricey Jane Blankenship Presnell. She was a
retired custodian for the Buchanan County school system.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, George “James” Prater; one grandson, Shane Lester;
one daughter, Pat Lester; three brothers, George Blankenship, Burl Blankenship,
and Clark Presnell; one sister, Blanche Dasher; and one infant sister.

SURVIVORS INCLUDE:
Two Daughters
Frances Hunt and Husband Roger of Grundy, Virginia
Debra Ramey of Grundy, Virginia
One Son
Jeffrey Prater of Colridge, North Carolina
One Brother
Clyde Presnell of Grundy, Virginia
Twenty Grandchildren
Twenty-One Great Grandchildren
A Special Sister-In-Law
Juanita Presnell of Blackey, Virginia

Funeral services for Helen Lester will be held on Wednesday,
April 18, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at the North Springs Old Regular Baptist Church at Wolford, Virginia with Josh Justus Jr., Bill McCoy, and James Stacy officiating.
The burial will be at the Prater Family Cemetery at Woodman, Kentucky.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, April 17, at 6:00 P.M., at the North Springs Old Regular Baptist Church at Wolford, Virginia, with a service held at
7:00 P.M.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.

Virginia Funeral Home of Grundy, Virginia is in charge of the arrangements.
