Obituary for Betty Jean Blankenship

Betty Jean Blankenship, age 80 of Grundy, Virginia passed away on Sunday,
April 1, 2018 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee.

Born October 20, 1937 in Pikeville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of
the late Elisha and Clara Bentley Thacker. She was a retired bookkeeper
and had an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from Southwest Virginia Community College. Betty was a member of Little Prater Church of Christ.
She enjoyed cooking, designing floral arrangements, and spending time
with friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister,
Erva Baker, several half brothers, and sisters.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Betty Blankenship will be held on Wednesday,
April 4, 2018, 12:00 Noon at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy,
Virginia with Gerald Vanover officiating. Entombment will be
at the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Virginia.

Friends may call at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Virginia Funeral Home,
with a service at 7:00 P.M.

Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Baker, Matthew Woodyard, Daniel
Rowlett, Clay Johnson, Jordan Amos, Richard Puckett, and Ricky Horn.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be William Boardwine, Tom
Heath, Howard Justice, James Tackett, Ralph Rowe, Henry Shortridge,
Junior Rowe, Charlie Yates, Horace Tiller, and Bill Stacy.

Virginia Funeral Home of Grundy is in charge of arrangements.
